He has been a role model and source of ideas in the development of the antifouling film. During a dive Rik Breur made the decisive discovery. He found out that all sea urchins are free of fouling. The inspiration was so great that as a Dutch material scientist with a doctorate he began to transfer the way nature works to ships and other structures found in the water.
The spiky surface structure of the elaborately developed and worldwide patented antifouling film prevents any growth on hulls or other objects which are in or under water. Barnacles, mussels and algae are kept at a distance.
We set a new standard in the field of antifouling, both environmentally conscious and ecological.

PROTECTION OF THE HULL
​
With our Finsulate® antifouling film you can protect your ship against unwanted organisms that permanently settle on the hull. This protection is provided by a surface with tiny spines that form the structure of a sea urchin. This creates a barrier between hull and water. This makes it virtually impossible for algae, mussels or other organisms to attach themselves to the hull. The hull is thus "isolated".
As the Finsulate® antifouling film is waterproof, there is an additional protection against osmosis.

EASY MAINTENANCE

Thanks to its special positive properties, the Finsulate® antifouling film requires very little maintenance.
The strong and long time tested adhesion of the individual fibres enables you to clean the hull of the ship with a steam jet at any time, even under water.
Should individual mussels or similar colonize the tips of the fibers, they can be removed easily and very simply by hand or brush, as they do not find a firm hold on the antifouling film.
You save the annual maintenance costs, the additional time and effort and at the same time contribute to the protection of the seas and waters.
